Primary Children’s Rehab Taylorsville

Primary Children's Wasatch Canyons Behavioral Health Campus in Taylorsville, Utah focuses on mental health and addiction treatment for children and teens from ages three to 18. The program is designed for young people with serious emotional, psychiatric, or chemical dependency issues including dual diagnoses and co-occurring medical conditions.

All Levels of Care

They offer a broad range of care levels from residential treatment, for kids as young as six to day treatment, outpatient therapy, and even specialty care for kids with complex medical needs. There’s also a chemical dependency program that includes short and long-term treatment with detox included. They also have a full eating disorder program across inpatient, outpatient, and residential settings.

I found that the outpatient side includes evaluations, therapy, med management, and psychological testing. There’s also a newer outpatient track specifically for kids with both behavioral health needs and complex medical conditions.

For families, involvement is a big part of the treatment model. As the behavioral health director, put it, “There’s often nothing more important to healing than the presence of loved ones.” The campus even lets parents stay overnight when needed.

Feedback From Past Clients

Some parents have had concerns about communication issues and inconsistent staff support but others say the therapists have strong qualities and the value of recreational therapy in their child’s progress is very evident.

New Facility

I found that a brand-new 90,000-square-foot facility is opening in 2025. Some services will include a walk-in crisis center, an inpatient unit for autistic and neurodiverse youth, and expanded outpatient and group therapy spaces.
