About Maryhurst

Maryhurst of Louisville, Kentucky, is a nonprofit child and family support program. Their residential treatment program is designed to help adolescent girls facing a range of challenges, including substance abuse. In addition to their residential program, they provide transitional support and aftercare programs.

The average length of the program is six months to a year. Those in treatment will work together with staff through traditional therapies and other activities designed to develop new social and coping skills. Families are also involved in and play a key role in treatment.

Successful recovery requires trust between those in treatment and their care team. Maryhurst's programming is focused on developing that trust through collaboration and mentorship. Over the course of their stay, each girl will find herself working closely with both her team and each other. This type of environment is important because it gives everyone the chance to practice their coping skills in controlled situations. It also demonstrates the importance of building a support network of peers, which will prove especially helpful once they leave treatment.

Treatment focuses on exploring past traumas through talk therapy. Those in the program can also enjoy a range of spiritual and culturally informed activities as part of their holistic well being.

Where Maryhurst really excels is in their transitional and aftercare support. These programs help those leaving treatment take the next steps in their life, whatever they may be. Support runs the gamut from continuing education and vocational training to housing support. Staff will help residents identify and connect with the community resources that’ll help them progress toward their goals as they navigate post treatment recovery. This starts before treatment ends, so everyone can have a plan in place once they leave Maryhurst. Louisville is called The Gateway to the South, and Maryhurst aims to be the gateway to a better future.
