About Madden Mental Health Center
A publicly funded state psychiatric hospital like Madden Mental Health Center offers stabilization for those experiencing a mental health emergency which may include substance use disorder.
I want to note that this place doesn’t provide ongoing treatment. Their goal is to address your immediate needs and support you as your situation improves, and to guide you to a facility that can provide ongoing care.
You may need a referral to be seen here as such locations typically utilize referrals from healthcare providers, the justice system, and other sources.
Safety When You Need it Most
I think that perhaps the biggest benefit of this location is that it provides you with a sanctuary during a psychiatric crisis. It’s often the case that we can’t see clearly during a crisis, so being in a secure environment and being monitored by medical staff is a great security to have until things even out.
Staff will tend to your needs during this time to help you through the crisis.
A Hospital Setting
Another thing I appreciate about this location is that, as a state facility, it can easily connect you to other state health resources as needed. Social workers, case managers, and more can all be included in your recovery plan depending on your needs. They do a lot to fill the gaps in your care.
