About Brown University Health Recovery Center

Lifespan Recovery Center, soon to become Brown University Health, is an appointment based addiction treatment center for adults in Providence, Rhode Island. They serve people who are new to treatment. They also work with those who’ve completed detox and an inpatient recovery program. If you want to transition from a methadone program, they can help.

It’s common to experience mental health and substance use disorders at the same time. While struggling with substance use, you may be experiencing anxiety, depression or mood swings. You’ll have access to a team that will work with all the areas causing you distress.

They aim to give you quick access to the help you need for recovery. They’ll treat you from all angles. For example, addiction can leave you physically depleted. It takes good nutrition and exercise to rebuild strength. Addiction also affects behavior. You’ll meet with counselors or psychiatrists to get to the root of your addictive behaviors. Group meetings are often helpful as well, as they provide a peer support group.

If you’ve been using opiates, you’ll get addiction medication such as Suboxone to make withdrawal and cravings manageable. Medication combined with therapy and counseling has been a successful recovery combination for many people.

The benefit of being in a program within a hospital is having access to other services. Medical, behavioral or mental health challenges can be addressed quickly and conveniently.

Some of those who’ve been treated here say they’ve been going here for years and they love it. Others talk about getting their families back and being able to be good examples for their children.
