About Life Skills Learning Center

The Life Skills Learning Center of Clovis, New Mexico provides outpatient dual diagnosis treatment for those with co occurring mental health and substance use concerns. In addition to private insurance, they accept Access to Recovery (ATR) vouchers, Medicaid, and other state funding. I think it’s important to note that they use the Learning to Live, Learning to Love curriculum, a psychological educational program with over 20 years of success.

Unique Treatment Topics

Treatment is available for adults aged 36 to 64, young adults aged 18 to 35, and children and adolescents under 17. They also provide specialized programs for court referred clients and survivors of domestic or intimate partner violence. I like that they include therapy topics that aren’t offered everywhere. Some of these are a focus on childhood wounds, forgiveness and self esteem, developing trust, and defining and identifying abuse. They also explore an understanding of the brain.

Tools to Help Rebuild Your Life

Their aim is to provide the tools to help clients rebuild their lives and improve their self image. They do this with evidence based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy and rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT). Motivational interviewing, anger management and relapse prevention planning are also employed in their trauma focused counseling.

Nature and Green Spaces in Clovis

Clovis has plenty of sprawling outdoor spaces to complement your outpatient therapy. HIllcrest Park offers picnic and sports areas for recreation and relaxation. It also features Hillcrest Park Zoo, with an additional 200 acres of green space and hundreds of animals to enjoy. The Ned Houk Memorial Park is 3,200 acres of land with different trail options suitable for hiking, horseback riding, and driving ATVs. If you’re looking for community resources, the Clovis-Carver Public Library offers multiple events to foster social connections and ample places for quiet study.
