About Life Help Mental Health Center

Located in Winona, Mississippi, the Montgomery County Life Help Center provides outpatient services to treat mental health and substance use in adults and adolescents. They also deliver crisis support and recovery support services for all ages as well as school based therapy for youth.

Life Help accepts Medicare, Medicaid and many private insurance plans for payment. They also have a sliding fee scale for those who qualify and may offer other payment arrangements as well. No one is denied access because they can’t pay.

Outpatient Services for Adults and Youth in Montgomery County

The Winona clinic offers general outpatient counseling for mental health and addiction. Services include crisis interventions and assessments. Counseling on the individual, group, and family levels are options, too.

They supply dual diagnosis group therapy for those who have both mental health and substance use disorders. We noticed that Life Help also facilitates classes about anger management and parenting skills. Appointments are available in person or through telehealth.

The psychosocial rehabilitation program caught my attention. It’s for adults who have serious mental illness, which may include co-occurring substance use issues. I’m impressed that they have a specific group for those 50 and older as well. The program consists of structured daily therapy and life skills classes, which last five hours a day five days a week.

School Based Treatment for Youth

Another thing that makes Life Help unique is its day treatment program that takes place in school for youth. The program is a minimum of two hours per day for two to five days a week and provides counseling for behavioral issues, mood control, and conflict resolution.

Having it at school eliminates schedule and transportation issues and allows the therapist to see how the child responds to counseling and incorporates the skills they’ve been taught.
