About Liberty Resources Integrated Health Care

Liberty Resources Brownell Center provides outpatient mental health and substance use services for young adults, adults and seniors in Syracuse, New York. They offer specialized LGBTQIA+ supports, and walk in appointments are available Monday through Friday.

While I found that they accept Medicare, Medicaid and private health insurance, they also offer a sliding fee schedule and will provide care to everyone regardless of ability to pay or insurance status. They also offer sign language services for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Keep in mind they do not offer transportation assistance.

Support for Substance Use and Co-Occurring Needs

As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, Liberty Resources works with people dealing with substance use, including those who also have serious mental health issues or emotional challenges.

Care is flexible and might happen just between you and your therapist, in a group setting or with family depending on what works best for each person. They use different approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy or dialectical behavior therapy to help people manage every day life without drugs or alcohol. Some services are also available through telehealth which makes it easier to stay connected to support.

Support When Mental Health and Substance Use Overlap

Getting off drugs or alcohol is just one part of recovery. When mental health is part of the picture too, medication assisted treatment (MAT) may be part of your treatment plan. I appreciate that this program helps people build the skills they need so they can feel better and stay grounded over time.

One Point of Contact for Care Coordination

Every individual and family is assigned a care coordinator, someone who helps them find and use the services they need to succeed at school or work, and get involved and contribute in their local communities.

It’s a single point of contact designed to address every need, from physical and behavioral health to social supports and education. The idea is to make things easier for families so they can stay healthy and involved in their community. This support is available to both kids and adults.
