Legacy Counseling Center is located on McKinney Avenue in Dallas, Texas. They offer outpatient counseling services and specialize in mental health, addiction, and substance use disorders for adults 18+. Specialized Care for People with HIV or AIDS

While this treatment center helps a wide range of clients, they have something that a lot of clinics don’t: advanced experience working with people who have HIV or AIDS. This includes group therapy for people who are HIV positive in addition to one on one counseling. They even provide specialized training to counselors as it relates to treating persons living with HIV and AIDS.

Group Therapy with Flexible and Inclusive Options

Group therapy is offered during day and evening hours. Therapy assists those living and coping with HIV-positive diagnoses by addressing the unique issues they face in a peer group setting. They also offer specific groups for HIV positive women as well as Spanish speakers. I’m impressed to see how much variety they have among their groups and how much they try to cater to their clients’ needs.

Condensed Outpatient SUD Treatment to Prevent Relapse

They offer both a nine week intensive outpatient program and a nine week supportive outpatient program. Both of these are fairly condensed programs.

These programs provide group and individual counseling, relapse prevention planning, education and life skills development. Schedules are tailored to your individualized needs as much as possible, with the goal of helping you prevent relapsing. They also provide tools to help you develop life skills in order to gain the necessary skills to live a healthy, sober life.

Legacy is situated in Dallas, TX near the Uptown and Oak Lawn neighborhoods, including popular districts in Dallas with vibrant LGBTQ+ populations. I like that it is also located in close proximity to Turtle Creek Park and Kaity Trail, which offer peaceful urban green spaces that support wellness and recovery.
