Laurel Ridge Treatment Center Highpoint is an inpatient mental health facility located in San Antonio, Texas. They treat children and teenagers for various mental health conditions including substance use disorder (SUD).

Treatment for Teens

It’s not always easy to find addiction treatment for teenagers so this specialized program stands out to me. Your child will be given a full assessment when they come in and their treatment team will include medical and mental health professionals. The team will keep you informed of your child's progress.

Clients have group and individual therapy which include goal therapy where patients will set and try to accomplish goals for the day. The facilitator will teach your child how to meet those goals and offer coping mechanisms for dealing with obstacles.

Individual therapy for teens is based on the STAR method which stands for Stop, Think, Act, and Reward. It offers rewards for good behavior and redirects negative actions.

I like the art therapy sessions because they let kids express what they are feeling creatively. I also like the meditative sessions as eliminating stress is important.

Support Program for Military Families

They have a special program for kids with parents in the military. It uses a trauma-informed approach to treat substance use disorder and mental health conditions that are often brought on by the stress of having a parent who is away or injured in military service.
