About Lake County Health Department – North Chicago Health Center

Lake County Health Department North Chicago Health Center (NCHC) is a satellite facility that provides a range of healthcare services to the greater North Chicago, Illinois, community. They offer a variety of substance abuse programs (SAP) throughout their network. For payment, I appreciate that they offer a sliding scale fee based on family size.

Opiate Treatment and MAT

Whether facing opioid addiction or severe dependency on other substances, going cold turkey might not be a smart decision. This center provides a methadone-based opioid treatment program (OTP) and medication assisted treatment (MAT) to help ease withdrawal symptoms and detox safely from alcohol, opiates or other substances.

Managed Outpatient Care

The center has several outpatient care options for people with less severe dependency or who want to continue to remain in their homes and communities. This includes traditional outpatient care such as counseling and referrals to community resources. But I also like that it offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that includes more structured group counseling sessions.
