About Youth Consultation Service

Youth Consultation Service is a CARF accredited New Jersey nonprofit based in Newark, providing residential behavioral health treatment for children and adolescents at its 284 Broadway location.

The program offers intensive therapeutic services for youth facing emotional, behavioral and co-occurring substance use challenges including those with trauma histories and PTSD, serious emotional disturbance and LGBTQ youth.

YCS is grounded in trauma informed and culturally competent care that supports young people as whole individuals, not just symptoms.

Youth Residential Treatment

YCS specializes in residential treatment for children and adolescents with complex behavioral health needs, including dual diagnosis mental health and substance use concerns.

I think it's noteworthy that the Newark program provides a safe, structured environment with 24/7 staff support, designed specifically for youth who need intensive therapeutic care.

Treatment combines cognitive behavioral therapy, milieu therapy, medication management and on site medical and nursing care.

I want to add that each young person also receives educational programming, life skills development and recreational activities like art, sports and community engagement to support recovery and growth.

A Statewide Continuum of Care

As part of YCS's broader New Jersey network, the Newark residential program connects to a full continuum of care that includes outpatient clinics and therapeutic schools, foster care and community based services.

Referrals come through the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, Children's System of Care, hospitals and schools.
