About Jireh Counseling Center

The Jireh Counseling Center in Texas City, Texas is owned and operated by Dr. Verdale Goins. They provide counseling for a wide range of mental health and behavioral health needs including substance abuse. They accept United Healthcare, Texas Children’s Insurance, and others. Counseling is offered to individuals, couples, families, and youth of any gender.

Dr. Goins began counseling in 1995 in Colorado and moved his services to Texas in 2017. The Air Force veteran has more than 25 years of counseling experience. To make his clients more comfortable, he normally begins by talking about his life and background after which he asks the client to do the same.

Counseling Services for Substance Use

The center offers outpatient counseling for anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and stress. Evidence based treatments and trauma focused therapies are used for counselling relationship issues, addiction, and trauma.

The center is certified to provide DUI counseling treatment and anger management counseling as well so you can benefit from this if you’ve been court ordered to receive these services. Counseling uses cognitive solution focused therapy and wisdom.

Christian Faith Based Counseling Training Available

Dr. Goins also runs the Wisdom Christian Center where individuals can receive ministerial training, wisdom Bible training, and counseling training. I have noticed many worship videos from Dr. Goins representing the Wisdom Christian Center on the counseling Facebook page where the two services are integrated. His other ventures include teaching Tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do, and Hapkido as a fifth degree black belt.

Relaxation and Self Care

After a session I would be tempted to stop by Happy Donuts for a treat and a cup of coffee. The Halfmoon Shoal Light House on the Galveston Bay was built in 1854, making it a historical landmark.

It was destroyed several times, once by a hurricane and twice by a steamer crashing into it. The lighthouse reminds me of how a life can be ravaged by substance use but rebuilt by the compassion and kindness of those who reach out to help us.
