About Decatur-Morgan Counseling Center

Decatur-Morgan Counseling Center provides outpatient mental health and substance use treatment for adults in Decatur and throughout Morgan County, Alabama. They offer support for co-occurring disorders as well, helping you untangle the complex relationship between mental health challenges and substance use so you can heal more fully. They’re located at Highway 31 South in Decatur, about four miles south of Cook Museum of Natural Science, Historic Bank Street and Carnegie Visual Arts Center.

Comprehensive Treatment Network

They are part of a network of outpatient clinics operated by the Mental Health Center of North Central Alabama. This organization has supported adults, adolescents and children across Morgan, Limestone and Lawrence counties since 1967. As a community-focused provider, they offer services wherever it’s most convenient for you, from in-office visits to in-home care and even at local schools.

At the Counseling Center, you can access the full spectrum of services offered through the Mental Health ener, from outpatient psychiatric care and substance use therapy to case management. The thing I find most helpful about this center is their door-to-door transportation support. This eliminates transportation barriers to care, helps you get to appointments on time and saves you the cost of travel.

Whole-Person Substance Use Care

I appreciate that they focus on more than just treating substance use. They work with you to improve your overall health, stability and quality of life. You’ll begin with a thorough substance use and psychiatric assessment so the team can understand your needs and build a care plan that fits you. You’ll then receive tailored therapeutic support that addresses immediate concerns and underlying issues, helping you build resilience and effective strategies for relapse prevention as you move toward long-term recovery.

Additionally, you’ll receive medication management to address co-occurring mental health challenges, ensuring greater emotional stability and improving your ability to stay engaged in recovery. You’ll also have access to a case manager to coordinate care and connect you to essential resources like housing, employment and community support that foster long-term success as you move forward.
