About Interlink Counseling Services
Interlink Counseling Services made its mark in Louisville, Kentucky, through its supportive substance abuse treatment and recovery services. They’ve developed and expanded their program offerings since 1993 to adapt to the changing needs of veterans and the ever evolving landscape of substance abuse. However, they closed in 2017.
Their continuum of care included inpatient/residential treatment and outpatient care. In addition to these treatment programs, they offered help to homeless men seeking detox. The staff also offered transitional support for those exiting treatment or stepping down from one level to another.

This program specifically served male veterans who were homeless and living with substance use disorder. What I like about this program was that in addition to the close supervision and detoxification services, it provided shelter (including beds) for up to five men at a time.
Genesis House
This transitional home offered long term support for those who wanted extra time up to 24 months to prepare for the next step in their sobriety journey. Clients residing here had access to education services focusing on relapse prevention and life skills development.
I noticed that unlike a residential program, clients could hold off campus employment, which gave them plenty of opportunities to put their new sobriety skills to use in real world situations. Fishpool Creek and Jefferson Mall were also close by for relaxation and to connect with the local community again.
