About Inter Tribal Substance Abuse Treatment Center

Inter Tribal Council’s Northeast Oklahoma facility is located in Miami, Oklahoma. It’s an overarching council that helps several branches and or tribes under it. Their main office is situated on the lands of the Peoria Tribe and Ottawa Tribe. One of their main interests is helping a reintegration program for the Muscogee Creek Nation.

Muscogee Creek Reintegration Program

This program helps with intensive case management and re-entry services for tribal members coming out of jail. They give financial assistance and housing as well as clothing and food assistance to members just released from custody. They also assist with long term support for legal aid, education, and job services.

They’re especially focused on the fact that people re-entering society after being incarcerated face mental health and substance abuse issues. I know these issues compound problems getting back to successful daily living and or work habits.

They also have a particular focus on re entering life on the reservation and the specific needs that come with it. This program showed a 96% success rate after only its second year in operation. I believe this program can really help improve public safety, too.
