About Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Florida Viera Campus

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health’s Florida Viera Campus is located in Melbourne Florida. They are accredited by The Joint Commission and specialize in providing high-quality care to children who struggle with co-occurring conditions and substance abuse disorders. They were established in 1987 and have continued to help children heal and enrich their quality of life for a brighter future. They have opened multiple locations to provide services to 5,000 children a day and assist over 13,000 families yearly.

Their Viera Campus is 55 acres and offers a variety of outdoor activities. The atmosphere provides a calming, tropical setting with beautiful lakefront views. During your child’s free time, they can go for a swim in their swimming pool or strengthen their social skills by engaging with other children at their playground. They have six residential units, a wellness center, and a private school.

What caught my eye is the variety of supportive services that will be utilized and available to your child during the duration of their stay. This includes 24 hours a day and seven days a week of nursing services, life skills training, comprehensive assessment programs, psychiatric services, dual diagnosis treatment programs, and vocational and educational services. With the various services accessible to them, they can heal and learn to maintain more stability, especially during times of challenging life circumstances to help them sustain their recovery.

The pressure of being a child can be a lot to deal with, especially when they’re struggling with mental health conditions combined with developing chemical dependency. The substance abuse programs offer integrative care by combatting both of these areas to help them gain day-to-day manageability and develop healthier coping techniques. Group and individual care programs allow kids to gain a better understanding on the risks of addiction and how to deal with challenging or impulsive behaviors.

Something else I thought was amazing is the flexibility offered to children with specific care. Their goal is to break any barriers that could prevent your child from succeeding and developing a healthier lifestyle. They also have bilingual staff, pediatric endocrinologists, treatment for children who have been exposed to sexual trauma, and a program for diabetes management.

Addiction Treatment Programs

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Florida helps people in treatment to revisit painful thoughts and memories and learn new ways to cope with them. These newly-learned techniques replace substance use and help the individual maintain sobriety.

LGBTQ Friendly Rehab

Often, women who have a substance use disorder also have a co-occurring disorder. Women’s rehab in Florida often addresses both the addiction and mental health disorder with dual diagnosis treatment.

Teen & Adolescent Program

Young adults often develop addiction for different reasons than older individuals. That’s why a young adult program in Florida focuses on the unique pressures, needs, and challenges faced by young adults.
