About Imperial Valley Medical Clinic

The Imperial Valley Medical Clinic (IVMC) is an outpatient clinic specializing in medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for individuals and families facing opioid use challenges in Calexico and across Imperial County, California. They’re located just a short walk southwest of the Calexico Carnegie Library and Camp Salvation, and west of the Old Customs Building.

They serve a diverse population, welcoming members of the LGBTQ+ community, disabled adults and Alaskan Natives with inclusive, respectful and culturally-competent care. Tailored and specialized support is available for veterans as well as pregnant and parenting women facing opioid use challenges. I noticed that they offer bilingual services in English and Spanish to meet the needs of their diverse clients. Other languages can be arranged upon request and sign language interpretation is also available.

Another thing I appreciate is their effort to make care accessible without compromising quality. They do this by accepting Medi-Cal, Medicare and TRICARE alongside various private insurance plans.

Medication-Supported Recovery For Opioid Addiction

MAT is an evidence-based technique that supports long-term abstinence by combining FDA-approved methadone, buprenorphine or Vivitrol. These medications ease withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings, allowing you to focus on the psychological and emotional factors behind your opioid dependence through counseling. Counseling also helps you process past experiences and set meaningful goals for your future to maintain sobriety and prevent relapse.

The experts here recognize the deep connection between opioid use and mental health struggles such as depression and anxiety. So they’ll identify and manage underlying or co-occurring mental health issues that could block your recovery. They may even connect you with community services to help with housing, employment and medical care as you move forward. It’s all about eliminating barriers so you can focus fully on your recovery and reclaiming a healthier future.
