Hope Lodge is a substance use disorder treatment plan focused on collaboration. Their program is for adults. Located in Lake Arrowhead, California, their boutique residential program sees residents working with staff and one another as they learn to find and maintain their path to recovery. They also offer detox services. The parent company is Hower Lodge and is based in nearby Blue Jay.

The residence accommodates 12 people at a time to allow each individual to receive the care and attention they need without feeling like just another number. It also emphasizes the importance of support groups like AA and the 12 Steps.

They do accept insurance, but you'll need to contact them to verify your plan. They have a second location for inpatient/outpatient services in Costa Mesa.

This program includes a range of therapies, outdoor recreation, and life skills education delivered via personalized treatment plans. What I find cool about this is that mindfulness training is at the foundation of all of this. Mindfulness is about being in the moment in such a way that you can observe and explore your thoughts, allowing you to better understand and change them.

Mindfulness is a powerful tool for anyone to have, but it's especially useful for those recovering from alcohol or drug addiction. When you can understand where the thoughts pushing you to use a substance come from, you can begin the work of changing them. It's an important tool in relapse prevention.

Forging Bonds in Recovery

A benefit to such small groups is the relationships you form with other residents. In addiction recovery, it benefits you to have support from others who are making the same journey toward sobriety. You'll grow close by living together and working together in groups and activities.

It also helps by putting you in a position where you can help others. Support works both ways, after all. Everyone in recovery has the potential to be a teacher from their lived experience.

This program makes use of Lake Arrowhead's natural setting in recovery. The titular lake itself makes for great sites and recreation opportunities. The inclusion of natural attractions like this illustrates how the great outdoors can play a role in recovery and relapse prevention.
