About House Where Jesus Shines

House Where Jesus Shines is a halfway house located in Waco, Texas. It is a residential facility that treats men who have been incarcerated. They began working with inmates in prison in the early 1990s and opened the halfway house soon after that. Although it is not specifically for people with substance use disorder (SUD), many of the men there suffer from SUD and have committed drug-related crimes.

Christian Halfway House for Men

In order to be considered for treatment, you must fill out an application online. You will be notified of acceptance by mail. You are required to pay $210 a week for your bed. If you do not have any money upon entering, the fee can be taken out of your paychecks until you're caught up.

This is a Christian organization that uses the Bible in therapy. They are not licensed by the state of Texas.

You will participate in regular 12 Step meetings. You will also have group sessions in which you will discuss how following the tenets of Christianity can make you a more responsible and sober person.

You will learn practical life skills such as balancing a budget and cooking meals. People in halfway houses have chores to perform each day. Chores not only help the house run smoothly, but they also help people get into good habits.

Work Assistance

I think finding legitimate employment is one of the most important things a rehab facility can offer to clients who have been incarcerated. I was happy to see that they have vocational assistance here. They also have a relationship with a temporary agency, so you are quite likely to find a job.
