About House Of Disciples
House of Disciples is a faith based recovery center in Longview, Texas offering a free 12 month residential discipleship program for adult men struggling with substance use and other life controlling issues. The program provides structured housing, meals, work therapy, and spiritual instruction specifically designed for individuals who are homeless or at risk.
The program is operated by a local Christian nonprofit called Wiseman Ministries. House of Disciples is located in central Longview, at the intersection of South Green Street and East South Street. Clients begin their recovery journey through a comprehensive 12-month residential program where they live on site and engage in structured daily activities designed to restore purpose and stability. The program starts with admission to a safe, supportive environment that provides immediate housing, meals, and integration into a discipleship community focused on accountability and growth.
Work Therapy with Retail and Farm Work
Throughout their stay, I think it's unique that residents participate in work therapy at Gifts of Grace resale stores and Isaiah 58 Farms, a 150 acre working farm that supports income production and therapeutic outdoor work. Spiritual instruction, life recovery classes, mentorship, community service projects, and recreational activities like the Ride for Recovery biking program form the core of treatment, emphasizing practical skills, spiritual formation, and physical wellness.
A Free Program for Adult Men
This discipleship program is primarily for men who are homeless or at risk for homelessness, committed to faith based transformation. I appreciate that the program is completely free so there's no cost to residents and insurance isn't needed.
