About Hope Haven – Sheldon

Hope Haven's Sheldon location offers mental health recovery services for adults living with serious mental illness in northwest Iowa. The nonprofit provides Intensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation (IPR) and Peer Support Services with evidence based curriculum and practical skills training.

Services are Medicaid funded through Iowa managed care organizations including Wellpoint, Iowa Total Care, and Molina, with private pay options available. Clients in need of substance use treatment can be referred to a local treatment facility.

Intensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation for Mental Health Recovery

Hope Haven's IPR program combines structured group and individual sessions to support adults managing serious mental illness. Group sessions meet twice weekly and offer skill building workshops and individual sessions are provided weekly.

Treatment uses an evidence based curriculum targeting four goal environments which are education, vocation, independent living, and socialization. Sessions focus on practical coping strategies, care coordination, and integrated support that addresses both immediate challenges and long term wellness.

Peer Support Services and Community Based Care

Hope Haven connects participants with peer support specialists who have personal experience. These specialists provide mentorship, teach coping skills, and help build natural support networks, often meeting clients in home or community settings.

I know from experience there is healing in my belief that a higher power is in control of my life as opposed to the overwhelming feeling that everything is out of control and there is no hope. The organization offers optional spiritual support services for those who value faith informed care.
