About Georgia Pines
Georgia Pines has a center located in Thomasville, Georgia. They are accredited by The Joint Commission and licensed by the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. The organization is also a member of the Georgia Association of Community Service Boards, as well as the National Health Service Corps.
They offer an array of services for those struggling with addiction, mental health disorders, co-occurring disorders and developmental disabilities. Medicaid and Medicare are accepted. If you do not have insurance, you will need to prove that you are a Georgia resident to be eligible for payment assistance.
I like that they offer what is called open access. Open access means that no appointment is required to stop by the clinic for a behavioral health assessment.
The assessment will take you about an hour to complete. During the process of taking the assessment, you will also be scheduled to see the psychiatrist. After this is completed, you will be referred to the appropriate services.
They try to provide their behavioral services in the least restrictive manner. The intensive outpatient program is community based. Although the length of the program will vary per person, the average length of the program is three to six months. During your sessions you will focus on lifestyle changes, relapse prevention, recovery maintenance, social skills and education on mental illness and the disease of addiction.
Once you complete the program, you are eligible for additional outpatient services. You meet for group sessions once per week. Medication assisted treatment is available. They offer buprenorphine, Suboxone and Vivitrol. If needed, residential services are available at other locations nearby.
