About Hill Country Counseling
Hill Country Counseling has been supporting residents of Austin, Texas and the broader Travis County for more than 20 years. They offer high-quality and accessible substance use recovery and mental healthcare that empowers individuals to navigate everyday challenges with confidence. They support adults, families and even seniors with compassionate care tailored to each stage of life and unique recovery needs.
I personally like that they offer both in-person and virtual counseling via telehealth. This provides flexibility and makes it easier to stay consistent with care no matter your schedule or situation. It’s also great that they accept Medicaid, Medicare & Medicare Advantage Plans and several commercial insurances. This makes care accessible to broader audiences.
Structured and Flexible Support
Hill Country Counseling offers standard outpatient (OP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs. IOP offers structured and relatively high-intensity therapeutic support for moderate to severe symptoms. You may undergo an assessment to help the care team determine the level of care that best suits your condition. Both programs are flexible with sessions tailored to accommodate your daily routine.
The IOP is in-person only with transportation and afternoon lunch provided at no extra cost. It involves individual and group sessions that use proven methods like cognitive and dialectical behavioral techniques to support personal growth and lasting change. They even offer milieu therapy, creating a supportive environment where your daily interactions and surroundings become part of the healing process.
Clients are linked to community services via case management to address housing and employment needs for stability and independence as they heal. I noticed their OP services involve individual sessions with in-person or telehealth options available for flexibility.
Court and Agency-Referred Treatment Services
Hill Country Counseling supports individuals involved with the judiciary by collaborating with government agencies. They offer substance use and mental health treatment for clients referred by probation officers through a partnership with the United States Federal Probation Office.
Additionally, they provide counseling to patients referred through Child Protective Services via partnership with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
