About Heron Ridge Associates

Heron Ridge Associates is a mental health and addiction treatment facility in the small town of Plymouth, Michigan. It’s not too far from Detroit. This is a private and supportive environment where you and your family can support and insight through therapy and outpatient programming. For adolescents and adults, intensive outpatient programs (IOP) can be taken with an addiction track or a mental health track. Group counseling programs can cover addiction, domestic violence, trauma, or abuse.

All treatment at Heron Ridge Associates consist of group and individual counseling. Each therapist specializes in certain topics like substance abuse, depression, or anxiety. After the initial assessment you’ll be matched with a therapist that can guide you in the specialized areas you need help in. Sessions will focus on discovering the root cause of addiction and depression, stress management, and relapse prevention strategies.

Other therapy topics offered here include anger management, divorce prevention, eating disorders, and grief. Counseling is judgement free and will help you gain a more positive outlook on life. The goals of treatment is to improve your self esteem, eliminate negative thought processes, and learn how to live without substances.

One interesting part of treatment at this facility is that they offer transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). TMS is a non invasive outpatient procedure while you remain awake and alert. Using a magnetic coil, highly concentrated magnetic fields that turn on and off very rapidly. The treatment coil is then applied to the part of the brain that is involved with mood regulation.
