About Healthcare Alternative Systems

Healthcare Alternative Systems (HAS) is located in Chicago, Illinois and provides bilingual healthcare options including addiction and mental health treatment. The organization has been serving Chicago for more than 50 years and combines counseling, treatment and support to create the optimal program for each individual and family.

The organization provides recovery services for everyone, regardless of financial status or insurance eligibility. They accept Medicaid and have a sliding fee scale for self pay clients.

A Three Pronged Approach to Treatment

Substance use treatment starts with a comprehensive assessment to determine your needs. Here, they can provide integrated treatment for those with both mental health and addiction diagnoses.

Healthcare Alternative Systems finds the right combination of counseling, treatment and support while delivering care in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and through general outpatient care. I appreciate that this includes medication assisted treatment (MAT) to help you manage cravings and avoid relapse while you challenge unhelpful mindsets and habits, creating a new lifestyle of recovery.

There are also DUI programs that include assessments, education and court ordered treatment. The goal is to help you get back on the road while reducing the chances of reoffense by addressing underlying decision making and risk taking behaviors.

Continuing Care for Long Term Sobriety

To help you stay in recovery long term, Healthcare Alternative Systems provides a variety of continuing care options. There are non clinical groups that meet once or twice a month and mentorship with a person who has faced the same challenges you are facing.

I like that they can also connect you with 12 step or other recovery groups as well as relevant social services.
