About HCMC Shapiro Building — Adult Psychiatry Unit
The HCMC Shapiro Building resides on the HCMC campus in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The campus is a location of Hennepin Healthcare.
Hospital Based Treatment
The building is a hospital based clinic. This means your insurance will pay differently than a typical office visit with a copay. Services are billed in two separate charges: a facility fee from the hospital, and a fee to pay the provider. Minnesota has a state funded treatment option. We feel this is an excellent opportunity for clients who do not have the money for treatment. You will have to be properly diagnosed under a rule 25 assessment.
Medication Assisted Treatment and Services
Addiction treatment at the clinic includes medication assisted treatment for opioid, alcohol, tobacco, and some sedative use disorders. Methadone and Buprenorphine treatment are available for those with opioid use disorder.
If you are diagnosed with an alcohol use disorder you may be prescribed antabuse, vivitrol, or other medications. Services include psychiatric services, among cross cultural services, neuropsychiatric testing, and psychotherapy. The clinic does treat pregnant and postpartum mothers in conjunction with their OB/GYN.
Significant Distance from Parking Areas
Clients have noted that the walk from parking areas may be difficult for those who have difficulty walking. There is a pharmacy located in the basement if you prefer one stop for treatment and prescription pickups.
