About Root Centers New London Clinic
The New London Root Center provides adults with outpatient substance use treatment in New London, Connecticut. They’ve been open since 1992 and welcome walk-ins six days per week. You’ll receive intensive outpatient treatment and therapy services such as individual, group and family therapy, Medication management and medication assisted treatment (MAT) are also available if needed.
They accept Medicaid and Medicare. You can also use your own insurance provider. A discounted sliding fee scale is provided if you don’t have insurance. I like that you can use their sliding fee scale to help with high copays or deductibles.
With MAT, they provide various medication options such as methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone. These medications are all approved by the FDA to help ease and alleviate your withdrawal symptoms. They also help improve the quality of your life, decrease substance abuse, increase your retention in treatment and they also improve the birth rates among women who are pregnant and struggle with a substance use disorder.
Their intensive outpatient program (IOP) is about eight to 12 weeks in length. The length depends on your personal needs and goals. Treatment such as group therapy is attended three to five days per week for a minimum of three hours per day.
I like that they keep their group sessions small to about 6-12 people per group. Specialized topics include concerns that relate to veterans, specific genders, the LGBTQ+ community, and abuse survivors. They used this holistic approach so that you can heal physically but also on a fundamental level.
If the outdoors can help you heal, feel free to drop by Stengers Park or Fenger Brook between sessions. You can exercise and unwind while enjoying what Mother Nature has to offer.
