About Lighthouse for Men
Lighthouse for Men is a private, not-for-profit halfway house for adults with substance use and alcohol use disorders. They’re located in Washington, Pennsylvania.
The facility is supervised by the Westmoreland Drug and Alcohol Commission, which is a single-county authority in Pennsylvania. SCAs oversee drug and alcohol services in the state. It is part of their job to make sure that a person gets the appropriate level of drug and alcohol treatment regardless of their ability to pay.
Signing Up for Lighthouse
You’ll have an intake assessment to make sure a halfway house is the right level of care for you. If you have drugs in your system, you may have to attend a detox facility that the commission works with. An inpatient facility may be required after detox if your condition is severe.
What to Expect for Guys
Most people who stay in a halfway house have already been to an inpatient rehab. Some of the clients here have been incarcerated for drug-related crimes.
You will be assigned a bed and three meals a day. You’ll be expected to attend house meetings and do chores.
They offer group and individual counseling sessions. I like that the facilities associated with Westmoreland emphasize education in their treatment. You will learn about the effects of drugs and alcohol on your body and decision-making abilities. They also provide access to 12-step meetings.
Case Coordinators
Many clients who stay at this halfway house are indigent and require non-therapeutic services. A case coordinator can help you find educational and vocational training. They can also help you with employment services.
I was impressed to learn that they offer life skills training. They will assist you with finding living arrangements, food stamps, and medical services.
