About Edgewood

Edgewood Center for Children and Families is a nonprofit mental health treatment center in San Francisco, California near Sigmund Stern Recreation Grove and Pine Lake Park. This space serves youth ages 5 to 24 and their families across the Bay Area.

Edgewood offers crisis stabilization, residential treatment, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and therapy services for children and adolescents facing serious emotional and behavioral challenges.

Founded in 1851, Edgewood is the oldest children's charity in the Western United States.

Mental Health Programs at Edgewood Center

This facility offers a 24/7 Crisis Stabilization Unit which is one of only a few in California serving children as young as 5 and the only one in the Bay Area for youth under 12.

Edgewood offers a parklike setting with cottage-style residential buildings. They offer an on-site Non-Public School for ages 14 to 22, a sports field, garden areas, and round-the-clock clinical staff for children in the program.

I've found that they have a multidisciplinary team that provides individual expressive art therapies, case management, medication management and comprehensive dual diagnosis support for co-occurring mental health conditions.

Payment Options with Edgewood Center

I've found that the admissions team is dedicated to working with the child's needs while verifying insurance or payment assistance options. They can recommend the appropriate level of care, including teletherapy for neighboring counties.

The facility accepts Kaiser, Aetna, Anthem, BlueCross BlueShield, Medicaid, Medicare, TRICARE, Medi-Cal, private pay, and sliding fee scale based on financial need.
