Graceway Recovery started in 2003 as a substance abuse recovery center for women. It was based in a suburban corner of Albany, Georgia. The center operated for more than 20 years before shutting its doors in 2025. They offered inpatient programs that ran 90 days. There were special tracks for pregnant and postpartum women and those looking for sober living arrangements.
A House with History
Your stay at Graceway Recovery took place in a Victorian house with charming decor and a mix of modern amenities. You could wander the outdoor spaces in their secluded yard or, time permitting, visit Radium Springs to unwind and stretch your legs.
I noticed that they had several traditional approaches to recovery. You enrolled in 12 Steps and partook in group and individual therapy sessions. There were options for interventions, life development courses, and relationship-building exercises with your family. One of their counselors summarized life at Graceway as “Tough love, unconditional love but regardless they were there for me and they helped me to come out of my shell and see what I was capable of.”
The Bake Shop
To jumpstart your career and people skills, you might have been eligible for employment in their bakeshop. You learned to bake, handle money, interact with customers, and be a part of the team and your community. I liked that this opportunity gave you hands-on experience as well as a chance to build fellowship with your peers.
