About Genesis House Harrisburg

Since 1985, Genesis House Harrisburg has provided adults, adolescents, and families with outpatient therapy services in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. They’re by the Riverfront Park and Susquehanna River. The organization specializes in assessments, evaluations, and treating substance abuse and gambling disorders.

They do accept insurance. If you’re uninsured or choose to not use your insurance, you will be able to self pay for your treatment.

A few things stood out to me. They’re open six days per week and their treatment is individualized as well as multilingual. They also have telehealth in case you have problems coming in person, although your case management team will have to approve any online meetings.

Acceptance into their program is based by their priority population groups. The special consideration is given to individuals who inject drugs, pregnant women who inject drugs, women with children, overdose survivors, and veterans.

I like that you will be an integral part of both your treatment plan and your aftercare plan. The goals that you set for your treatment will reflect your purpose and motivation.

When you sign up, they'll help you identify and address barriers so that you can have a successful recovery. Various treatment modalities are used such as relapse prevention, gestalt, cognitive restructuring, motivational interviewing (MI), motivational enhancement, and trauma therapy.

A variety of services are offered. First, you’ll be evaluated to determine your appropriate level of care. DUI evaluations and healthcare professional evaluations will be done as well. Depending on your needs, their intensive outpatient program requires between 9-19 hours of treatment per week, while their outpatient treatment program requires up to nine hours per week.
