About Frontier Health – Watauga Behavioral Health Services

Frontier Health Watauga Behavioral Health Services serves adults, adolescents, and their families. They provide a range of services, including care for substance use disorders or co-occurring diagnoses. Programs take place in an outpatient (OP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) setting. There is also a short-term respite program here for families and children. You’ll find ‘em out in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Their care is comprehensive and compassionate. You’ll work with a care team that will take the time to understand your unique needs. They’ll create an individualized treatment plan to meet those needs. As part of your substance use treatment, you can be evaluated to determine if there are any underlying mental health struggles at play that need treatment.

Services offered include counseling support. You’ll get connected to trained addiction counselors who will help you navigate the triggers and stressful experiences that have led to your addiction struggles. You’ll also learn strategies and techniques to manage these stressful emotions. There’s also individual and family counseling available as well.

Depending on your circumstances, you can also get a medical evaluation referral. This referral may allow you access to more robust services including medication assisted treatment.

You’ll also enroll in addiction education and follow up services. Their case management team will connect you to services within your community. These services can include access to 12 Step programs like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.

There are also a range of other services available here. Specifically, you’ll find an adolescent recovery program that connects children who have behavioral health services with care no matter your age or background. They work with the local school district so that your child has a robust support system they can turn to.

The mother child connection program is for women aged 18 and older who are pregnant or have small children. To be enrolled in this program you’ll need to have a substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health disorder. During treatment you’ll engage in group and individual therapy, relapse prevention, and case management.

People who’ve previously received treatment at Frontier Health Watauga Behavioral Health Services say the case managers were nice and caring. Others mentioned there were a lot of hoops to jump through for medication management.
