About Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch

Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches is a private long term residential treatment program for kids and teens with legal and behavioral challenges, including substance abuse. The campus in Live Oak, Florida, follows four self described pillars: work, study, play, and pray.

The program is designed to combine group living in a family structure with a holistic approach to support and personal development.

A Mom and Pop Shop

Staff on campus include several professionals, including counselors, who are there to provide expert help to residents as needed. But a unique twist to this program I find interesting is the “mother and father” of each cabin.

Residences are overseen by a married couple who serve parenting roles to their residents. Their encouragement and guidance create a family like atmosphere that can strengthen the bonds between clients and their actual families, too.

Work, Study, Play, Pray

I also find the four pillar approach intriguing. By design, it meets each child’s holistic needs while helping them develop as responsible individuals and staying in step with the progress their peers outside of treatment are making.

The highly structured days aid in recovery and curbing negative behaviors to support the progress being made in each client’s individual treatment plan.
