About First Step House Residential
Adult men can receive residential treatment in the First Step House located in Salt Lake City, Utah. The organization received the Candid platinum transparency seal in 2022. Their target population is adult men, with low income, who have a substance use disorder diagnosis and mental illness.
Among the insurances they accept are Medicaid and Medicare. If you do not have insurance then you will be able to pay for treatment based on their sliding fee scale. They do receive funding assistance from the Salt Lake City Behavioral Health Services and the Department of Veteran Affairs.
A thorough assessment will be done at the beginning of your treatment. The assessment and evaluation will help determine the most appropriate level of treatment care. It will also help develop your treatment plan that will be customized based on your needs specifically and goals.
Ensuring appropriate and responsive treatment, I do like that your treatment plan will be updated on a regular basis. Now the length of stay will vary from person to person. What determines your specific length of stay is the time it takes you to achieve your specific goals and needs.
When you enter treatment, you will spend the first 14 days of your treatment in the orientation unit. This unit will give you time to transition into treatment and allow the clinicians to conduct the evaluations and assessments. It also gives you time to acclimate to the expectations and rules of the center.
The residential treatment center itself is able to house 76 men. Your room will be dorm-style. Daily, they will serve you breakfast, lunch and dinner. Throughout the day you will have access to snacks and coffee.
