About Volunteers of America Behavioral Health Services

The outpatient behavioral health services department of Volunteers of America Massachusetts provides holistic and integrated care in Taunton, Massachusetts. The organization is CARF-accredited.

Before you begin your treatment, you will undergo a comprehensive evaluation. The evaluation will help determine if their program is a correct fit for you and your specific needs. You will also answer questions about your substance use history, mental health history and medical history. They will also like to know what your needs and treatment goals will be.

Once all the information is collected, they will be able to develop your personalized treatment plan. Your treatment plan may include different formats of counseling such as individual, group, family and couples counseling. Individual counseling will take a deep dive into your addiction and what led to it. You will also address any possible trauma. With group therapy, you will be able to be among your peers. You will see that you are not alone in the recovery journey.

If needed, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is available. The medications they use have been approved by the FDA. If you are struggling with an alcohol use disorder or an opioid use disorder then you may add MAT to your treatment plan. I like that the medications will reduce your cravings and ease any withdrawal symptoms you may be experiencing. With your withdrawal symptoms controlled, you will be able to focus on your recovery journey.

You will have access to recovery coaching and recovery support navigation. The coaches have once stood in your place and are committed to long-term recovery. They will be able to provide you with advice, guidance and help provide any additional resource you may need. I do like that you will have access to employment and housing services while you are in clinical treatment.
