About Ethridge Center

Once located in the beach city of San Diego, California, the Ethridge Center offered a Christian-based continuum of care for those experiencing mental health and substance use issues. They accepted military insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and other state financed health plans, and they also would take IHS/638 and Access to Recovery vouchers. They are now closed, though.

Complete Continuum of Care

Residential treatment was available, as were regular outpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs. Detox services were provided as well. Through trauma focused counseling, they explored modalities such as cognitive (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT). I found that they also used motivational interviewing and 12 step facilitation.

Treatment for a Variety of Patient Groups

A wide range of patient populations were served by their program. Among these were adults, young adults aged 18 to 21, and pregnant women. Veterans, active duty military, and their families have a dedicated place in their treatment. I was pleased to see that they welcome members of the LGBTQ+ community. They also treated individuals with HIV/AIDS and survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence.

San Diego is home to multiple beaches to enjoy, among them Coronado and MIssion Beach. The 1200 acres of Balboa Park are perfect for picnicking, biking, and walking. Several museums and gardens add to the picturesque setting. It also encompasses the famous San Diego Zoo, spanning 100 acres and housing more than 12000 animals.
