About Echelon Care

Echelon Care is accredited by CARF and is a community mental health and substance use treatment center. They’re located in Charlotte, North Carolina. It’s a sturdy brick building down the street from Clarks Creek Greenway. They specialize in treatment for at-risk youth and treat all age groups. The programs provide care according to North Carolina’s Medicaid guidelines.

The facility offers residential and outpatient programs. Comprehensive mental health and diagnostic assessments are part of the programs and help determine whether the client can benefit from substance use disorder and mental health treatment. The assessments also ascertain whether the client is motivated and ready for treatment. If the client meets the target population criteria, they can get treatment.

The residential program provides kids with 24/7 monitoring and offers guidelines for appropriate behavior and accountability. While a child is in the facility, parents are expected to engage and communicate expectations to provide structure. All family members should know what their roles are and know how to set up healthy boundaries and respect each other. If family outings are permissible, there are plenty of parks and nature spots nearby to unwind and form new bonds.

The outpatient program facilitates increased functioning in at least one area and includes work, school, home, social, and family. Treatment modalities include individual, group, and family therapy. The facility also offers behavioral health screening for co-occurring mental health disorders.

One of the resources for Medicaid beneficiaries with developmental and intellectual disabilities who are at risk for institutionalization is the North Carolina Innovations Waiver Services, of which they’re a member. They offer several services for those eligible for the program. Services include group and individual counseling, comprehensive assessments, medication management, rehabilitative psychosocial services, family support, peer support services, and behavior modification.

They also have intensive in-home services available. This gives a family access to a team of professionals to address behavioral and health issues with the entire family. Services include parenting classes, anger management, academic enrichment, and more. The team visits the home weekly to develop a relationship with the family. The goal of all the programs is to offer youth the ability to reach their full potential and become productive citizens.
