About East Los Angeles Health Task Force
The East Los Angeles Health Task Force’s Substance Abuse program provides an array of substance use disorder (SUD) services to help people achieve sobriety and maintain it in Los Angeles, California. It is an outpatient initiative that also works to support dual diagnosis care, and works with more vulnerable members of the population such as pregnant and postpartum, veterans and active military and individuals with HIV or AIDs. This facility accepts insurance, Medicare and Medicaid, Tricare, and offers a sliding scale fee.
A Variety of Outpatient Programs
I appreciated that ELAHTF provides a range of outpatient programs to help people overcome their addiction and avoid relapse. There’s an intensive outpatient program (IOP) which requires anywhere from nine to 20 hours per week with a focus on addiction counseling and life skills training.
This is ideal for someone who is potentially newly sober and needs more hands-on care in those initial weeks and months of sobriety. Meanwhile, a more traditional outpatient program meets less frequently. This is ideal for people who have ongoing obligations such as work and school, who can’t forego them for treatment.
Detoxification Support
Another key feature of ELAHTF I noticed is their medication assisted treatment (MAT) program designed to help you safely wean off of illicit substances while managing withdrawal symptoms. This is essential since the withdrawal experience often causes people to relapse.
Helpful Dual Diagnosis Treatment
For many, mental illness influences addiction. Not having proper access to care, or not taking medication as directed can cause people to self medicate through alcohol or drugs. The dual diagnosis care at ELAHTF means that people can focus on not just sobriety, but on managing their mental health.
