About Douglas Young Youth and Family Service

Located in sunny San Diego, California in Kearny Mesa is the Douglas Young Youth and Family Service. This is a behavioral health care clinic that is funded by San Diego County, Behavioral Health Services, and HHSA. They provide a full range of services to children and youth who have serious emotional disturbances, including substance use prevention and treatment.

Other services include crisis intervention, evaluations, medication management, counseling, case management, and parental support. The center defines “family” as any caregiver and significant members of the child or youth’s life. That allows everyone who cares about the young person to get help in supporting them.

Committed to serving individuals where they're at, you can expect to find care that's tailored to your unique lifestyle. For some youth care might be administered in the office. For others, home and school services are more appropriate.

You'll have an initial evaluation which includes psychiatric testing. Through this they will define an appropriate treatment plan for you. There are a variety of approaches to care here. For example, you'll have access to medication management and counseling in both group and individual sessions.

This care clinic is conveniently located just under two miles south of Kearny Mesa. It’s easy to get here through the available transportation services.

You’ll also be able to move easily around town, allowing you to enjoy all that this community has to offer. You’re close to the beautiful shorelines of San Diego Beach and just over ten miles north of downtown San Diego.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

When a person is struggling with addiction, their actions and emotions may not be rational. Cognitive behavioral therapy in California helps individuals understand better why they feel and act certain ways and how those emotions and actions can lead to substance abuse.

Teen & Adolescent Program

Typically, a young adult program in California can guide individuals from detox, through initial treatment, and extends to aftercare. Treatment gives young adults what they need to reset their lives and move to the next stage of life free from addiction.
