About Discovery House

Delray Beach, Florida, has a vibrant arts scene and access to the Wakodahatchee Wetlands, where you can explore Florida’s natural beauty over a series of boardwalks. The city is also home to Discovery House, which provides recovery residences for adult men.

Supportive Sober Living in Delray Beach

Discovery House is designed to provide a safe, structured environment for you to learn to be responsible for yourself in healthy and productive ways. They require that the residents have either recently completed a primary treatment process or be in outpatient substance use treatment while living there.

Multiple Phases for Increasing Independence

There are two phases you go through when living at the Discovery House. In Phase 1 you have a 10:00pm curfew, seven days a week. You have to stay in Palm Beach County and join AA or NA and get a sponsor. The goals of the first phase are that you get a job or start schooling at least 20 hours per week and establish yourself in a 12 step group. I appreciate that they have this in place to hold you accountable to taking concrete steps in your recovery.

In the second phase you have an 11:30pm curfew Sunday through Thursday and 1:30am curfew on Friday and Saturday. You need to maintain participation in a recovery support group, but otherwise have no restrictions. There is random drug testing throughout your stay during both phases.

The ultimate goal of the Discovery House is that each man creates solid routines and habits that support a sober lifestyle and gains the skills they need to live independently while maintaining recovery.

I think it’s important to note that recovery housing is not covered by health insurance, and Discovery House has a specific rent that each resident pays. If you get medical treatment or outpatient addiction or mental health treatment, your health insurance will likely cover at least some of the costs.
