About DeRousse Counseling and DUI Services

DeRousse Counseling and DUI Services helps those who have been convicted of a DUI get their legal requirements taken care of so they can get back on the road. They operate in a quiet corner on the outskirts of Edwardsville, Illinois, and even infuse a bit of humor into their approach. While they focus on court ordered clients, they also serve self-referred individuals.

Founded by Someone Who Understands the Journey

George DeRousse, the founder of this organization, has quite a story. He began using drugs and alcohol at age 14 after a traumatic car accident where his brother was in a coma for three months and barely survived. The trauma of losing his father to murder at age five also played a role.

He finally stopped when he was 24 after he overdosed and almost died. He reached out for help and attended various treatment programs for over a year. He also joined NA and AA, and continues to attend them to this day.

DeRousse knows the journey, having been through DUIs himself and testifying for friends as well. I felt that this makes him a very understanding ally as you seek license reinstatement and consider whether you need additional treatment.

DUI Evaluations and Appropriate Care in Edwardsville

One thing I learned was that DUI care isn’t the same for everyone, even if they have the same number of offenses. Instead, there’s an evaluation that takes into account previous offenses but also asks other questions to determine your DUI risk classification.

Based on the results, you’ll have a specific amount of hours of education and level of outpatient care to complete before you can restore your privileges. The higher your risk category, the more care you’ll need.

DeRousse Counseling and DUI Services offers group counseling five days a week, including weekends, to make it as easy as possible for you to get the care you need. They have the required classes and treatment for all four risk categories, so no matter how your evaluation goes they can help you take care of your legal requirements and return to a productive, safer life.
