About DePaul – Halstead Square Community Residence

DePaul's West Main Apartment Treatment Program is a transitional mental health housing program in Rochester, New York licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health.

The program serves adults age 18 and older with psychiatric disabilities who are actively engaged in mental health treatment and ready to build skills for more independent living.

DePaul's mission centers on empowering residents to develop real world self sufficiency within a supportive, structured environment. I noted that applicants and residents in need of substance use treatment are referred to a local treatment facility.

Supported Living Apartments for Psychiatric Disabilities

The West Main Apartment Treatment Program offers supportive housing in 14 studio apartments designed to bridge the gap between higher levels of care and fully independent community living.

Residents must be engaged with ongoing mental health treatment and motivated to develop the daily living skills needed to thrive on their own. Staff provide medication supervision, skill development support, and 24 hour emergency availability.

Residents take responsibility for grocery shopping, meal preparation, and household tasks practicing the routines of independent adult life while having professional support readily available.

Independent Living Skill Development

Beyond housing I found the program emphasizes practical skill building to prepare residents for long term independence.

Support may include referral linkage to community mental health treatment and connections to medical, dental, educational, vocational, and recreational resources that promote whole person wellness.
