About Denton Freedom House

Denton Freedom House has been helping men and women become liberated from addiction through the power of Jesus Christ since 2004. They operate a main campus, a multi-phase separate men and women’s homes, a coffee shop and an event center. They’re staffed by over 100 volunteers and offer all their services at no cost.

Many of their programs run out of Denton, Texas, but their men’s home is in Aubrey. This recovery program gives men the opportunity to embrace a Christian recovery from addiction. They’ll leave with practical life skills as well as a better relationship with their families and most importantly a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Men over 17 years old anywhere in the U.S. are welcome to apply. The program has three phases. The first phase is a minimum of six months and includes residential treatment. This phase is free and will help you get a full-time job and come to recognize Jesus Christ as Lord and savior.

Phase two of the program is also a commitment for six months where you'll begin to save and work through many of your needs. all men in this phase will be working full time and a small program fee is charged to offset the cost of running this program.

Phase 3 is earned based on each client's progress. In this phase, men move into a sober living home with other clients. I like that there is no end date, men can stay as long as they wish to continue to heal and recover. admission to this phase is through an online form.

In the residential program at Denton Freedom House, residents share a bedroom with up to three other residents. This may feel uncomfortable and crowded at times. They encourage you to really think about whether you can commit to the process. While you're in this program, you're not supposed to be in a relationship with anyone, including girlfriends or fiancees. If you’re legally married, they’ll work to help you restore that relationship. It's important to know that during the first 30 days you won't have any contact with anyone on the outside. There'll be no visits, calls or writing letters. After that, you’ll be able to have visitors and phone calls from immediate family and approved mentors.

Denton Freedom House is not a medical facility. They don’t allow psychiatric medications, including methadone or prescriptions for depression and anxiety. You’ll need to detox before you arrive.
