About Denali Family Services

Located on Muldoon Road, south of State Route 1 in northeast Anchorage, Alaska, Denali Family Services provides individual therapy, group therapy and family counseling, as well as psychiatric services for adults and children. The therapy is strength-based and based on the principles of trauma-informed-care.

Denali Family Service clinicians frequently use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), play therapy, family education, trauma-focused behavioral therapy, and other treatment approaches designed to help promote healthier relationships, improve self-regulation, and increase social and emotional competencies. A staff psychiatrist provides psychiatric assessments. Master’s level clinicians provide mental health assessments. A 24- hour crisis hotline is available to current clients and their families.

Denali Family Services is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA). They are a member of the National Council for Community Behavioral Health, the Alaska Behavioral Health Association, and the Anchorage Regional Behavioral Health Coalition.

EMDR may help clients in addiction recovery manage the psychological and emotional triggers that contribute to substance misuse and/or addiction relapse.

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is an integrative, community-based care strategy designed to address the needs of persons with severe and/or complex mental illness or behavioral disorders. ACT is typically provided by a multidisciplinary team of medical and mental health care providers, social workers, therapists, and other specialists, including addiction recovery professionals. These services are frequently provided in the home and community to clients in crisis, those who are clinically unstable, and those who are unable or unwilling to travel to a hospital or clinic for in-person treatment.
