About Save the Michaels of the World Buffalo

Save the Michaels of the World has a goal to raise awareness of prescription and other drug abuse. They have multiple locations around New York, including one in Buffalo. They support individuals and their families as they work to quit and enter recovery. They are not a treatment provider per se but rather help you to find the programs and services that you need for your recovery. They provide support to parents, spouses and grandparents of addicted individuals. They provide self-help and wraparound care before, during and after treatment.

When you call this team, you'll talk to an intake coordinator. This point of contact will send you referrals to local recovery programs that suit your needs.

I like that they are partnered with the New York State’s behavioral health ombudsman program so that getting treatment is easier. If you have insurance obstacles to getting help then they can support you and make sure that you get treatment regardless of your ability to pay. This program educates you about your insurance rights and helps you figure out complicated insurance systems. They can also help you with claim denials and appeals.

Save the Michaels of the World offers recovery coaching. They will help motivate and educate you as you become empowered to begin a new chapter in your life. I like that they have multiple pathways so that you can choose the kind of recovery that works for you. They also offer various peer-led groups on site and online that cover a wide array of different topics.

For example, there's a support group for people who have experienced grief or loss led by a trained counselor. Celebrate Recovery is a faith-based Recovery Group led by community members. There's also a parenting class, a life skills group, yoga and groups specifically for women and men.
