About Daystar Center for Spiritual Recovery

Daystar is a holistic residential treatment center located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Here, clients can get support to develop healthy, independent lifestyles, through therapeutic counseling, education, and daily life skills training. They also run a family program to support loved ones to get the healing they need. Daystar connects residents with community resources like housing assistance and mental health services.

A Progressive Recovery Program in Harrisburg

Their residential program is typically three to six months long which I think gives clients a great foundation for life-long recovery.

Daystar offers medication-assisted treatment using Vivitrol and Revia which is a daily pill form of Vivitrol. These non-addictive medications block opioid receptors in the brain to help prevent relapse. It allows you to focus on counseling and other recovery services without constant cravings.

One of the features that struck me about Daystar is their community service program. Residents will volunteer at the local soup kitchen, community events, neighborhood clean-up, and recovery centers. This helps residents give back to the community and focus on altruism as part of their recovery.

Another feature I think is beneficial about Daystar is their focus on spirituality. Residents work with their primary counselor to blend spirituality into their treatment planning. You can choose the spiritual commitments that work for you. For example, this might be organized religion, meditation, yoga, mindfulness walks, and more.

Halfway House for Pennsylvanians

Daystar runs two recovery houses in Harrisburg. Each one can accommodate five residents and provides them with a place where they can prepare for reentry into society. These recovery homes are closely monitored by Daystar staff.

I like that residents pay a weekly rent, practice food budgeting and balance their recovery with employment.
