About DAPA Way Houstons Mental Health Specialists

DAPA Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Programs in Houston, Texas is a community centered organization that provides wraparound services to adults who are struggling with their mental health or have addiction use disorders.

I appreciate their approach to care because they recognize the need for wraparound services especially for people who are experiencing a crisis. Through the 24 hour crisis line, they make it easy for you to get in touch with a professional who can help walk you through an immediate mental health or substance use challenge you’re experiencing. This helpline is also incredibly supportive of families who want to learn how to best support their loved ones in crisis as well.

The care here is rooted in evidence based practices but your care team will approach you from a person focused approach first. I think this personable approach is what has enabled them to be successful with the people they serve.

One of the support you'll find here is medication management for your substance use struggles. This is an effective treatment method to help your body reach a point of stabilization so that you can benefit from counseling and other therapies.

As you work through your medication treatment regimen, you'll also work with experienced and licensed addiction counselors on an individual basis as well. Through this one on one support, you'll learn different cognitive skills and strategies that will help reframe your thinking.

Their intentional focus that will help shape your overall self esteem and self acceptance is another one of the aspects of their recovery approach that stands out to me. Going beyond just working through the steps of recovery, you'll reflect on your past experiences and use those experiences to shape your future.

You're not expected to forget, deny, or simply overcome the challenges you have faced. Instead, you’ll be encouraged to learn from them and use those experiences to shape your path forward.
