About Crossroads Clubhouse

Crossroads Clubhouse is a community service center located in Hopedale, Massachusetts. They help people who have struggled with mental health issues get jobs, housing, and other life necessities. Service is also provided to people with dual diagnoses who struggle with mental health conditions and substance use disorder (SUD) simultaneously.

I like the unique concept on which the service is based. The staff does not consider the people who get help here to be patients or clients but rather members of a special community.

How It Works

The focus of treatment is on teaching people vocational skills and getting them back to work after a mental health or SUD-related event. Working is considered a form of therapy here as it builds self-reliance and makes people feel more confident in themselves.

The clubhouses that the center operates are considered “work units.” Club members and staff run the place together. You will develop skills through on-the-job training. You may do everything from keeping the books to working as a groundskeeper.

If you do not have your high school diploma, then they can help you work on your GED. They will be able to help you find financial assistance for vocational schools and college.

Therapy Sessions

The clubhouse offers weekly 12-step sessions. I appreciate that they have meetings for people with dual diagnoses as well as meetings that focus strictly on a particular type of mental illness or coping strategy.

On-Site And Virtual Resources

You will be trained on basic computer programs and office equipment. They also offer training for jobs in the hospitality industry at the clubhouse.

If you can’t make it there, you can get some services online. They offer daily meetings where you can get advice on health and wellness. You can even meet with a counselor for goal planning without ever leaving home.
