About Consortium Against Substance Abuse

The Consortium Against Substance Abuse (CASA) provides outpatient substance use prevention, treatment support and referral assistance for adults and youth. They primarily support four Native American tribes in Oklahoma, including the Caddo Nation and the Apache Tribe. Support is also extended to Native American Indian tribal members who reside in Caddo County.

They seek to enhance the overall health, well-being and resilience of these tribal communities through culturally informed support and resources. CASA is located on Southeast 1st Street in Anadarko, Oklahoma, less than a mile southeast of the Caddo County Courthouse and the Anadarko Downtown Historic District.

I appreciate how this organization maintains strong partnerships with all branches of the local criminal justice system including the courts, probation and parole offices and law enforcement. This ensures coordinated care for justice-involved individuals and smooth transitions into treatment and support services. They also coordinate with the Department of Human Services and higher-level providers such as medical detox and inpatient rehab to ensure seamless referral when more intensive care is needed.

Assessment and Treatment Support

CASA provides thorough substance use assessments using modern tools like the SASSI and Addiction Severity Index (ASI) to identify the severity of your substance dependence. This assessment also seeks to uncover how your patterns of substance use have impacted your physical, vocational and social functioning alongside psychological health. Referral support is provided with transportation assistance if your assessed needs necessitate more structured inpatient care.

The assessment also guides personalized recovery planning for their outpatient treatment. This program offers individual therapy where you’re empowered to explore the emotional roots of your substance dependence and develop practical solutions to overcome them. Follow-up and aftercare support may include relapse prevention planning and connections to community resources that help maintain your recovery and support long-term wellness.

Community and School-Based Support

CASA provides substance use prevention programs to local schools to educate youth about the risks of substance use and promote healthy, drug-free lifestyles. I like that they also offer prevention workshops, training sessions and educational presentations in community settings to raise awareness and strengthen local resilience against substance use.
