About Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton, Ingham Counties

The Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham Counties operates The Recovery Center in Lansing, Michigan. This is a community mental health resource that provides a range of therapeutic services to people struggling with substance use disorders (SUDs).

Along with detox care and a residential program, you can also take advantage of outpatient support. Because of its location in Lansing, The Recovery Center is near several natural landmarks including Hawk Island Park, Fenner Nature Center, and Lansing River Trail where you can enjoy some fresh air and reflection amid your treatment.

Detox and MAT for Sobriety Assistance

One of the first steps in your SUD treatment journey is to get sober. I like that The Recovery Center helps people struggling with active addiction thanks to their detox program. Participating in the medication assisted treatment (MAT) program means that you’ll also be monitored to help with your sobriety for months or longer.

The detox program lasts for three to five days depending on the severity of your addiction. More importantly, this is an inpatient program thanks to the 10 bed facility and is designed for both alcohol and drug addictions.

Residential and Outpatient Care

Some people benefit greatly from staying on site during their early recovery. For this segment, The Recovery Center’s residential program provided through Cedar Roots Recovery is a smart option. With 40 beds and a commitment to providing a drug and crime free environment, this is a men’s only program.

If you have prior obligations, the outpatient program might be more realistic since it still provides comprehensive access to counseling, screening, and assessments, but offers more flexibility. I did note though that outpatient services are available to all genders, unlike the men’s residential program.

The Recovery Center also works with a local corrections program that helps incarcerated individuals in the Ingham County Jail and the Clinton County Jail receive outpatient treatment.

Holistic Support and Aftercare

I did find nice services here that can be a complement to traditional counseling or MAT care. For example, you can participate in acupuncture which can aid in mental and physical health. The Recovery Center accepts Medicaid and Medicare, self pay, and offers a sliding scale fee.
